Markel Susaeta Laskurain (born December 14, 1987 in Eibar ) is a Spanish football player .
Career
Markel Susaeta started the tried and tested career path with the flagship Basque club Athletic Bilbao . After going through the entire youth department of the club, he moved to the Tercera División to CD Baskonia . Like numerous other athletic talents, he also became a regular there. In the following years he played a class higher, in the Segunda División B for the U23 team of Athletic. Susaeta made his debut for Bilbao in the 3-1 defeat at FC Barcelona on September 2, 2007, where he scored the only goal of his team and at the end of the Primera División 2007/08 could look back on 29 appearances and four goals. Since then he has been a permanent member of the first team. After eighth place in the table in 2010, he qualified with Athletic Bilbao by finishing sixth in 2010/11 for the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League . There Susaeta and his club reached Siegen a. a. the final of the European Cup via Manchester United , FC Schalke 04 and Sporting Lisbon , but lost to Atlético Madrid in the final .
After 12 years with the professionals of Bilbao, he left the club after the 2018/19 season after more than 370 top division games. After two months without a club, he moved to Japan to Gamba Osaka in September 2019 .
