Ibai Gómez Pérez , known by his first name Ibai (born November 11, 1989 in Bilbao ), is a Spanish football player .
Career
Through various positions at smaller clubs, Ibai came to the Spanish first division club Athletic Bilbao in 2010 , where he was initially used for both the second and the first team of the club. He made his debut for the professional team on October 17, 2010 in a 2-1 win against Real Saragossa . He was substituted on for Gaizka Toquero in the 66th minute , but broke his kneecap, leaving the field for Igor Martínez five minutes later and then paused for half a year. On May 10, 2011 he made his comeback for the first team, but the team lost to Deportivo La Coruña .
In the 2011/12 season he was used more often and also ran internationally for the first time. In March and April 2012 he was also used in the two Europa League games against FC Schalke 04 , in which he was only substituted, but prepared a goal and scored one himself. In the 2012/13 season he has played in 35 league games and scored four goals.
On December 12, 2013, Ibai extended his contract in Bilbao to 2017. A release clause of 35 million euros was contractually agreed.
In July 2016, his contract with Bilbao was terminated and he moved to league rivals Deportivo Alavés .
On January 10, 2019, Ibai returned to Athletic Bilbao for the € four million transfer fee.
