Iñaki Williams Arthuer (born June 15, 1994 in Bilbao ) is a Spanish football player who plays for Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Primera División .

Career

Iñaki Williams was born in Bilbao to a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother . After working for smaller clubs from Pamplona , he joined the youth department of Athletic Bilbao in 2012 at the age of 18 . In the same year, Williams made his debut in the men's division when the winger came up for cooperation partner CD Baskonia in the Tercera División , the fourth-highest division in Spanish football . In the summer of 2013 signed Williams at Athletic Bilbao moved a contract for four years until 2017 and was in the second team of the Basques, the Spanish in the third division, the Segunda División B , played. After Williams sustained a knee injury in the pre-season, he was not able to intervene again until October, but the teenager scored eight goals in 14 games this season.

Due to injury-related failures of some established offensive players, Williams was able to make his debut in the first team in December 2014. In the 0-1 home defeat against FC Córdoba , he played from the start for the ailing Aritz Aduriz in the striker, but was already replaced at halftime. Nevertheless, the talent was able to fight for a regular place in the first team. The Basque scored his first professional goal in the last sixteen of the UEFA Europa League in a 2-2 away draw against FC Turin . This makes Williams the first colored player to score for the club.

In the season 2015/16 the winger comes despite a broken leg at the beginning of the season, still continuously used.

National team

In March 2015, Williams was appointed to the squad of a Spanish national team for the first time. Under Albert Celades , he made his debut for the U-21 selection in a friendly against Norway when he came on for Munir at half-time .
