Raúl García Escudero (born July 11, 1986 in Pamplona , Spain ) is a Spanish football player . The midfielder has been under contract with Athletic Bilbao since August 2015 .

Player career

Raúl García comes from CA Osasuna's youth work . With the team from Navarra he was first promoted to the second team in 2004/05 before he made his debut for the first division eleven in the same season. On October 28, 2004, he lost 3-0 at FC Barcelona on his first division debut . In 2005 he and his team failed in the final of the Copa del Rey at the Andalusian representative Betis Sevilla . Nevertheless, they qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup , as Betis Sevilla had already qualified for the UEFA Champions League . In the 2006/07 season, Raúl García and his team were eliminated from eventual winners Sevilla FC in the UEFA Cup semi-finals .

In the summer of 2007 he moved to Atlético Madrid and signed a five-year contract. He played with the Madrilenians in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup and competed with them in the Champions League the following season . In total, Raúl García completed 216 league games for Atlético, in which he scored 26 goals and prepared 15. For the 2011/12 season García was awarded again to CA Osasuna.

On August 31, 2015, he moved to Athletic Bilbao in the Basque Country . He signed a four-year contract.

National team

Raúl García was an integral part of the Spanish U-21 national team , for which he played 20 games since 2005.
