The Segunda División 1990/91 was the 60th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 1, 1990 and ended on June 9, 1991. Between June 12 and June 19, 1991, the play-off games were played. Master was Albacete Balompié .

Before the season

The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The two best teams went straight to the Primera División . The third and third placed played against the 17th and 18th of the Primera División for promotion. The last four clubs were relegated.

Relegated from the Primera División took CD Malaga , Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano part. From the Segunda División B came Albacete Balompié , Real Aviles Industrial , UE Lleida and Orihuela CF Deportivo .

    1 Orihuela Deportivo CF was relegated to Segunda División B because the club did not pay players' salaries. The club was replaced by FC Barcelona B , as the best runner-up in the Segunda División B.
