Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.
Relegated from La Liga took Real Zaragoza , Celta Vigo and CD Málaga in part. From the Tercera División came FC Barakaldo , Real Murcia , CA Osasuna and CE Sabadell .
