The Segunda División 1980/81 was the 50th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 7, 1980 and ended on May 24, 1981. Master was CD Castellón .

Before the season

The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.

Relegated from the Primera División took Rayo Vallecano , Burgos CF and CD Málaga in part. From the Segunda División B came Atlético Madrileño , Barakaldo CF , AgD Ceuta and Linares CF .
