Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.
Relegated from La Liga took Real Murcia , UD Salamanca and AD Almería part. From the Segunda Division B came Celta Vigo , FC Córdoba , Deportivo La Coruña and RCD Mallorca .
