The Segunda División 1943/44 was the 13th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 26, 1943 and ended on April 9, 1944. The relegation games were played between April 16 and 23, 1944. Champion Real Gijon .
Before the season
14 teams competed against each other twice in a group in 26 games. The two best clubs were promoted directly to the Primera División , while the third and fourth placed could move up through the play-offs.
The last two of the table were relegated directly, the third and fourth from last fought relegation against relegation.
Relegated from La Liga took Real Betis and Zaragoza FC in part, newly promoted from the Divisiones Regional did not exist.
