The Segunda División 1942/43 was the twelfth season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 27, 1942 and ended on January 10, 1943. Between January 31 and June 27, 1943, the relegation games were played. CE Sabadell became the master .

Before the season

The 24 teams were divided into three groups of eight teams each. The first two of each group qualified for the promotion round, in which the two best clubs were promoted directly to the Primera División . The third and fourth also had the chance to advance in the play-offs.

The teams that finished fifth to eighth in the first phase played against relegation in the relegation round.

As relegated from the Primera División , Hércules Alicante and Real Sociedad participated, promoted from the Divisiones Regionales were Cultural Leonesa , FC Terrassa , CD Alcoyano .

    The games between the 11th or 12th of the Primera División and the third or fourth of the promotion round took place on April 18, 1943.

    Relegation

    The 12 teams, which finished fifth to eighth in the first phase, played with another 18 teams from the Divisiones Regionales against relegation. The game was initially played in six groups of five teams each. In each group, two teams from the Segunda Division and three regional division played. The group winners reached the final, the other four either relegated to the Tercera División, or stayed there.
