Atlético Tetuán was a Spanish football club from the Moroccan city of Tétouan .
history
The club from what was then the capital of the Protectorate of Spanish Morocco was founded in 1922 after the merger of Sporting de Tetuán and el Hispano-Marroquí . The greatest success was reaching the first Spanish league in the 1951/52 season , where you could only take 16th and last place. When Spanish Morocco was granted independence in 1956, the football club split into the Maghreb Athlétic de Tétouan , which still exists today and which remained in Morocco and currently plays in the first division , and Atlético Ceuta , which migrated to the Spanish city of Ceuta and currently participates in the Tercera División .
