The Segunda División 1951/52 was the 21st season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 9, 1951 and ended on April 13, 1952. Between April 27 and June 29, 1952, the relegation matches were played. Champions were Real Oviedo and CD Málaga .
Before the season
The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 16 teams each. The two group winners were promoted directly to the Primera División . The two second and third place winners played together with the 13th and 14th of the Primera División in the play-off round two other teams who played first class in the following season.
With the aim of reducing the Segunda and Tercera División, the last six teams from both groups should be relegated at the end of the season. In addition, the teams in places eight to ten should play against relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División took CD Málaga , Real Murcia , CD Alcoyano and UD Lerida in part, from the Tercera División came Caudal Deportivo , Deportivo Alavés , Atlético Baleares and Alicante CF .

Play-off round
Together with Real Gijón and Real Santander from the Primera División, the two second and third parties determined two starting positions for the following season in the Primera División.

1 CD Mestalla was not eligible for promotion as an amateur team of FC Valencia.

Relegation
The teams in places eight to ten in both groups identified four more relegated teams.

The controversial reform of the Segunda and Tercera División was canceled at the end of the season. The relegation against relegation was thus wasted . The six participants also played in the Segunda División the following season. The number of relegated groups from the North and South groups was also reduced from six to three.
