history

founding

Real Balompédica Linense was originally founded as Balompédica Linense on September 10, 1912 by a group led by José Morales and Cristóbal Becerra García. These two were the president and secretary of the first board of the association. Cristóbal Becerra tried to add the addition Real , so "Royal", to include in the official club name, but this failed due to resistance from some club members. On December 8, 1912 Linense played the first game of its history and won with 2: 1 against Algeciras CF .

league

In 1922, after another initiative by Cristóbal Becerra, who was supported by the Marquisess of Marzales, the addition of Real was added. The first official game was won by eight goals against CD Málaga . In addition, the Spanish King Alfonso XIII. offered the honorary presidency.

In the same year Real Linense won again against CD Málaga , this time in the final of the regional cup.

Regional celebrity

In 1929, the regionally successful club was invited by several Moroccan clubs in the French occupation zone of that country to play against them. Without exception, all of them were beaten, so that the French opponent Empire did not play in the final and handed the trophy to the Real Linense team before the game started.

The game against CD Córdoba in the 1929/30 season ended with 22: 0; it was the highest league win for Real Linense to date. In 1932 the Marquisess of Marzales was named godmother of the association thanks to some donations.

Segunda División

In the seasons 1949/50 to 1954/55, the Andalusians played in the Segunda División for six years . In the summer of 1955, however, they were relegated from bottom of the table and have not returned to the top two leagues since.

Stadion

Real Linense plays in the Estadio Municipal de La Línea , which has a capacity of 20,000 spectators. The stadium was built in 1969 and renovated in 2003. The stadium houses offices, the club's trophy collection, a café, a restaurant and the press room.
