The Segunda División 1950/51 was the 20th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 10, 1950 and ended on May 6, 1951. Between May 13 and July 8, 1951, the relegation games were played. Champions were Real Gijón and Atlético Tetuán .
Before the season
The 32 teams were divided into two groups of 17 and 15 teams respectively. The two group winners were promoted directly to the Primera División . The two second and third place winners played together with the 13th and 14th of the Primera División in the play-off round two other teams who played first class in the following season.
The two bottom of the table were relegated directly, the third from bottom of the southern group had to go into relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División took Gimnàstic de Tarragona and Real Oviedo in part, from the Tercera División came UD Melilla , CD Logroñés , UD Las Palmas , CD Huesca , CD San Andrés , and SD Ceuta .
