The Segunda División 1972/73 was the 42nd season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 3, 1972 and ended on May 27, 1973. Between June 10 and June 17, 1973, the relegation games were played. Champion Real Murcia .
Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División .
The last four clubs were relegated directly, the teams in places 13 to 16 had to fight relegation against relegation.
Relegated from the Primera División of took Sevilla , Córdoba CF and CE Sabadell part. From the Tercera División came Barakaldo Club , Gimnàstic de Tarragona , Real Murcia and CA Osasuna .
