The Segunda División 1976/77 was the 46th season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 5, 1976 and ended on June 5, 1977. Sporting Gijón became the champion .
Before the season
The 20 teams met twice on 38 match days. The three best teams rose to the Primera División . The last four clubs were relegated.
Relegated from La Liga took Real Oviedo , Granada CF and Sporting Gijon in part. From the Tercera División came Getafe Deportivo , Real Jaén , Levante UD and Pontevedra CF .
