The Segunda División 1940/41 was the tenth season of the second highest Spanish football league . It began on September 29, 1940 and ended on March 3, 1941. Between March 9 and April 13, 1941, the relegation games were played. The champions became the FC Granada .
By means of a decree of the Franco regime issued on January 21, 1941, the clubs were again permitted to include the monarchist symbols, which were banned during the Second Spanish Republic , in the club's coat of arms and to use name components such as Real . The use of non-Spanish parts of the name such as Football Club , Racing , Sporting or Athletic , however, was prohibited from now on.
Before the season
24 teams played in two groups of twelve teams each. The first two of each group qualified for the promotion round, in which the two best clubs were promoted directly to the Primera División . The other two teams were able to prevail in the play-offs and also rose.
Betis Sevilla and Real Santander took part as relegated from the Primera División , there were no promoters from the Divisiones Regionales this season.
