The Club de Fútbol Badalona , in German-speaking and FC Badalona , is a Spanish football club from Badalona , Catalonia . The club, founded in 1903, plays in Segunda División B , Group III.

history

The first years

The musician and athlete Francesc Viñas Bosch founded the club under the name Football Bétulo Club on May 15, 1903 as a division of the cycling club Bétulo Sport, founded in 1900 . In 1908 the association was officially registered. Until 1913 the players wore red and blue jerseys.

fusion

After a few years as an independent club, the club merged with Artiguense in 1933 . Associated with this was the renaming to Sport Club and the move to Barcelona's Artigues district. On October 11, 1936, shortly after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War , the new Camp del Centenari stadium was inaugurated with a game against FC Barcelona .

Post war and economic crisis

Although one had to struggle with major economic problems after the Spanish Civil War, one was able to stay in the Segunda División from 1947 to 1952 . Until 1963, they spent a decade in the then third-rate Tercera División . From 1963 to 1968 the club spent one more time in the Segunda División, but the economic crisis in the 1960s almost caused the club to collapse once and for all. Only the basketball department was able to attract attention.

The last few years

After 22 years in the Tercera División and the merger with the young club Unió de l'Esport Badaloní , FC Badalona rose to the Segunda División B in 2004 . They reached the play-offs in 2006 as first in the table, but failed. Since then Badalona has played in the Segunda División B.

Stadion

FC Badalona plays in the Estadi Municipal de Badalona, which opened in 2017 . The stadium has a capacity of 4170 spectators. The club had previously played at the 1936 Camp del Centenari .
