history

Unió Esportiva Llagostera was founded in November 1947 under the name Unión Deportiva Llagostera in the city of Llagostera , which now has about eight thousand inhabitants in the province of Girona in Catalonia . For many years the club played in the deepest amateur leagues, which in the end made up more than the first half century of the club's history. During this time the name changed several times. In 1972 the name was changed to Club de Fútbol Llagostera and in 1981 it was changed back to Unión Deportiva Llagostera , which lasted until 2004. That year the club took its current name Unió Esportiva Llagostera .

With a first place in the highest regional Catalan league in 2008/09, UE Llagostera succeeded in that year for the first time promotion to the Tercera División , its fourth highest league in Spanish club football. There the club was able to establish itself quickly with good performances. After finishing seventh in the first year, he was promoted to the Segunda División B with first place in Group 5 . In the first year there they landed on a respectable fifth place in the table. In 2012/13 they came in tenth. In the third division season 2013/14 UE Llagostera grew beyond itself and at the end of the season took first place in Group 3 with a lead of one point over CE l'Hospitalet . As a result, you entered the playoff games with the first-placed, but lost there to Racing Santander . Nevertheless, Llagostera was able to continue in the promotion games of the non-first and prevailed there successively against Real Avilés and Gimnàstic de Tarragona , which resulted in UE Llagostera’s first promotion to the Segunda División , Spain’s second soccer league. The team played second class for the first time in 2014/15. In the 2015/16 season , the club rose again to Segunda División B.
