The Young An Hat Company is a South Korean conglomerate whose core is hat manufacturing . According to the company, the Young An Hat Company produced over 1.2 billion hats and caps between 1959 and 2017. The company sells around 100 million headgear every year (as of 2017).
history
The Young An Hat story began in 1959 with a small hat shop in Seoul . In the following year, the sales area was increased, but only one salesperson and two workers were employed. From 1966, the export of products began, with the first hats being exported to Japan. The value of exported goods in 1969 was $ 40,500. A major international expansion took place in the 1980s. In the course of this expansion, factories were opened in Costa Rica , the USA , Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and a sales company was established in Canada . In 1992, global hat and baseball cap sales were over $ 100 million. The US hat company Dorfman Pacific , which has also been selling hats from the Stetson brand under license since 2010 , has belonged to Young An since 1993 . In 2006 and 2017, further production sites were opened in Vietnam and the People's Republic of China .
Business areas
In addition to the hat business, which forms the historical core of the Young An Group, the Group now also serves a large number of other business areas. The diversification began in 1986 with the acquisition of a Korean cattle farm with an area of 240 hectares. Another farm with an area of 210,000 hectares was acquired in Australia in 2010.
Young An's entry into industrial vehicle construction was achieved in 2003. This year, two large company acquisitions were completed. On the one hand, the bus manufacturer Zyle Daewoo Commercial Vehicle , which was formerly part of the Daewoo Group, was taken over, and on the other hand, the Clark Material Handling Company , which is considered to be the inventor of the forklift truck , was taken over.
Furthermore, several companies are operated for real estate marketing and in the field of tourism.
