The Estadio Nuevo Arcángel is the municipal football stadium in the Spanish city of Córdoba , the capital of the province of the same name in the autonomous region of Andalusia in the south . The venue of FC Córdoba was inaugurated on November 7, 1993 with the game FC Córdoba against Recreativo Huelva . The stadium was built 500 meters from the old facility where the club played for 39 years on the banks of the Guadalquivir River . When it opened, the venue held around 15,280 spectators; today it offers 21,822 places.
Since 2005 the stadium has been renovated and expanded in several phases. The first to be completed was the two-story counter stand with an eight-story office building at the rear and 8,726 seats. From September 2007 to September 2008, the rear grandstand with 4,200 seats was built in the north. This is followed by the southern rear grandstand and the west grandstand along the square. Upon completion, the renovated stadium will have 25,100 covered seats. To the stadium system are u. a. Hotel, restaurants, parking garages and shopping centers include.
