The Estadio El Toralín (full name: Estadio Municipal de Ponferrada "El Toralín" ; short: El Toralín ) is a football stadium in the north-west Spanish city ​​of Ponferrada of the autonomous community of Castile and León . The local football club SD Ponferradina plays its games here. It offers 8,200 seats to visitors.

history

The venue is owned by the city of Ponferrada and was inaugurated on September 5, 2000 with the game SD Ponferradina against Celta Vigo (0-2). It replaces the club's previous home, the Estadio Fuentesnuevas , which was used from 1975 to 2000 . The pure football stadium has four roofed stands that border directly on the edge of the field. The four masts of the floodlight system protrude vertically from the corners of the stadium. The SD Ponferradina was promoted to the Segunda División in 2006 and the capacity of the stadium was increased by around 2,000 seats, the press stand and the field were renewed. The stadium is also equipped with drainage and irrigation systems for the field. In addition there are u. a. a room for press conferences, space for television cameras, ten reporters' booths for the radio, offices, conference rooms, a cafeteria and a sports hall. The sports facility meets the requirements of UEFA for international games.

So far there have been three games of the U-21s of Spain in El Toralín .

• June 1, 2001: Spain - Bosnia and Herzegovina 5: 1 ( qualifying for the U21 European Championship in 2002 )  
• November 16, 2007: Spain - Poland 3: 0 ( qualifying for the U21 European Championship in 2009 )  
• 2 March 2010: Spain - Liechtenstein 3: 1 ( qualifying for the U21 European Championship in 2011 )
