The Estadio Carlos Belmonte is the municipal football stadium in the Spanish city of Albacete in the province of the same name in the autonomous region of Castile-La Mancha . This is where the Albacete Balompié football club welcomes its opponents. Today it seats 18,000 spectators.

history

The 12,000-seat stadium, which opened on September 9, 1960, was still equipped with an athletics facility and had no roof. The name goes back to the then mayor, who was also an architect and designed the stadium. In 1970 the main stand was roofed over and floodlights were installed. After Albacete rose to the first division in 1991 , the sports facility was completely renovated and expanded to 15,000 seats with the construction of a new grandstand.

In 1998, the lowering of the playing field created additional spectator seats. The standing areas have been converted into seats. The changing rooms were renewed and a video surveillance system was installed. A campus of the University of Castile-La Mancha and the municipal swimming pool are located around the stadium, south of the city center . Four tennis courts and an artificial turf soccer field are located behind the main grandstand .
