history

Time in the minor leagues

Écija Balompié was originally founded in 1939, later dissolved and re-established in 1968. The Spanish federation helped the club with money and equipment to get it back on its feet. In 1969 the club played its first official competition. However, it would take until 1987 until Écija Balompié escaped the "Liga Regional". After promotion to the Tercera División , the club was able to finish the season twice in 2nd place, but failed both times in the play-offs.

Successful times

In the 1991/92 season took place the next ascent, this time in the third-rate Segunda División B . In the following three years, a renewed promotion, this time to the Segunda División , was just missed. In June 1995, the hoped-for promotion finally succeeded after a 4-2 away win at UD Levante in the first leg and a draw at home in the second leg. In the first season he managed to stay thirteenth. After two years in the Segunda División, Écija rose in the following season as 20th again.

After relegation from the Segunda División

After relegation in 1997, the club has not been able to recover to this day. The club last appeared nationwide in the Copa del Rey 2006/07, when they faced the great Real Madrid and were able to achieve a draw at home.

In the 2007/08 season Écija was champion of Segunda Division B, Group IV, but failed in the playoffs for promotion to the Segunda Division. In 2014 the club was relegated to the Tercera División, in which he has played since then.
