Walter Scheurle
Walter Scheurle (born August 13, 1952 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German manager . From 2000 to 2012 he was Group Board Member for Human Resources and Labor Director at Deutsche Post AG .
Born the son of a silversmith, he left high school at the age of 15. After training as a post office boy at the post office in Schwäbisch Gmünd in 1967, Scheurle was initially employed in the simple postal service. From 1972 he was employed in the middle postal service in the offices of Stuttgart 1 and Schwäbisch Gmünd. In 1974 he became chairman of the district youth council at the Oberpostdirektion Stuttgart . Scheurle has been employed in various functions at the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft (DPG) since 1979 , first as a clerk on the main board, then as secretary of the district board in Stuttgart. In 1985 he became head of the postal service department of the union's main board.
In 1995 he became a member of the executive board of the German Postal Union, responsible for postal services, youth and education. In the same year he was also appointed to the postal supervisory board. At the beginning of 2000 Scheurle was appointed to the Management Board and took over the group department “Human Resources”. He was Labor Director at Deutsche Post AG. The Human Resources department is responsible for the tariff standards of Deutsche Post DHL in Germany, the national and international relations with the employee representatives and the personnel policy for the MAIL division. He resigned from the Board of Management on April 30, 2012; his successor is Angela Titzrath . Scheurle is a member of the administrative board of the Federal Agency for Post and Telecommunications . In 1994 he was a member of the Joint Committee at the Commission of the European Union.
Since 2013 he has been chairman of the German Society for Postal and Telecommunications History .
Scheurle is a member of the board of the Reading Foundation .
