Rubén Navarro Méndez (born June 6, 1978 in Sallent de Llobregat , Barcelona , Catalonia ) is a Spanish football player who is currently under contract with the Catalan second division club Gimnàstic de Tarragona .

Navarro is a homegrown of Valencia . It was first used on June 15, 1997 in the Primera División , Valencia landed a 2-1 home win against Real Oviedo . However, the striker could not prevail in the first division. In summer 1999 he switched to CD Numancia . In his first season in Soria he managed to stay with the club, in the second game year the relegation to the Segunda División as bottom of the table could not be prevented despite his ten goals this season. In 2001 he moved back to the Primera División to Deportivo Alavés , the club that reached the club's greatest success in the same year by moving into the UEFA Cup final . Navarro enlivened the offensive game of El Glorioso ("the glorious") and became a service provider. In 2007 Navarro decided to move to Hércules Alicante . The Spaniard was already labeled as a bad purchase when he showed it to all critics on April 5th. He scored a flawless hat trick in the game against Sevilla Atlético in an 8-0 victory .

In June 2009 he returned to Catalonia on a free transfer after almost 15 years . He signed a two-year contract with Gimnàstic de Tarragona .
