Fabian Broghammer (born January 14, 1990 in Heppenheim ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

youth

In his youth Broghammer played for Germania Eberstadt, SC Viktoria Griesheim and until 2007 for Eintracht Frankfurt . He then moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , in whose youth teams he spent two years, as well as another year in the club's second team.

Entry into professional football

In 2009 Broghammer moved to the second team at VfB Stuttgart . Broghammer came over the following two seasons to 20 appearances in the 3rd football league , his only league goal for VfB he scored on his debut, a 2-4 defeat against the second team of Bayern Munich in September 2009. After several Weeks had trained with third division promoted SV Darmstadt 98 , the club announced the commitment Broghammer in August 2011. After only two short appearances in the first half of the 2011/12 season , the club suggested a change during the winter break, and at the end of January 2012 he finally left the club.

Broghammer spent the second half of the season 201/12 at regional division FC Bayern Alzenau , who competed in the southern season . There he made five league appearances in the second half of the season (two goals), and at the end of the season the club was relegated to bottom of the league in the Hessenliga .

Move to England

In August 2012, he moved to the Bristol Rovers , a club from Football League Two , where he first completed a trial session before the club announced on August 12 that they had signed Broghammer. He signed a one-year contract with an option for a further year and was given jersey number 11. The Bristol Rovers coach, Mark McGhee , was made aware of Broghammer by his former HSV team-mate Felix Magath . On August 17, Bristol Rovers received Broghammer's international clearance, allowing the midfielder to debut in the home game against Oxford United on August 18 , when he came on for Joe Anyinsah in the 50th minute. On September 8, 2012, he scored in the 2-2 draw against Aldershot Town in the 90th minute, the goal to the final score and thus his first goal for Bristol Rovers.

After 38 season appearances (3 goals) the club offered Broghammer a new contract in May 2013, a month later the contract extension for another season was announced. In a friendly game on July 19, 2013 in preparation for the 2013/14 season Broghammer pulled a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus . From the club side it was assumed that he will be out for nine months. On April 8, 2014, he played his first game after the injury when he played the first 60 minutes of the reserve team's game against the reserves of Swindon Town . On April 19, 2014 he was back on the field for the first time after his recovery when he came on for Michael Smith in the 3-2 away defeat by Portsmouth FC in the 28th minute . After a 1-0 loss to Mansfield Town on May 3, 2014 Broghammer rose with the Bristol Rovers from Football League Two . On May 6, 2014, the club announced that they would not renew their contract with Broghammer.

Return to Germany

For the 2014/15 season Broghammer moved to the Hessen League for SV Wiesbaden . In March 2015 he suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee, and after the 2015/16 season his career in competitive sports ended.

National team

Broghammer made his debut for the German U-17 in a 1-1 draw against Portugal on February 18, 2007 in Lagos . Broghammer was part of the German team of coach Heiko Herrlich , which took part in the U-17 World Cup in South Korea in 2007. When he reached third place around the later national players Toni Kroos and Sebastian Rudy , he played five World Cup games, mostly as a substitute, and scored the opening goal in a 5-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago.

In the following two seasons he played five games for the U18 team (2007/08) and then two international matches for the German U19s (2008/09). In total, Broghammer played 17 games for the DFB youth teams from 2007 to 2009 , in which he met twice.
