Even after returning to Girondins Bordeaux , he could not prevail and was awarded in January 2011 for half a year to the Brazilian first division club SC Internacional . In the summer of 2011, he moved to CA River Plate on a free transfer .

In the summer of 2012 he moved to Villarreal . After a good start and two goals in the first game, he only managed two more goals in the remaining games of the season and had to sit on the bench more often.
