The hiking magazine Switzerland was founded in 1927 by the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB) and until the 1990s was published together with the then Swiss Transport Authority (today: Switzerland Tourism ) and distributed free of charge to rail travelers in Switzerland. Due to the modernization of customer marketing at Deutsche Bahn, the Swiss magazine , which has always been high quality and exclusively illustrated , was robbed of its task at the end of the last century, namely to entertain rail travelers with high quality literature and high quality exclusive photography. The title was taken over by Rothus Verlag Solothurn in 1993 and successfully developed into a traveling magazine at the beginning of 2004. Today, the hiking magazine Switzerland is the largest independent hiking magazine in Switzerland.
