Sabin Ilie played for almost 20 different clubs in his career. In the 1996/97 season he was able to secure the title of top scorer in league 1 with 31 goals in the shirt of Steaua Bucharest . From 1998 to 2002 he played for Valencia CF , but had no chance of a place in the first team. During this time it was awarded a total of six times, in the 2000/01 season to Energie Cottbus . For the Lausitzer he completed ten Bundesliga games . In 2009 Ilie finished his career with Qingdao Hailifeng .
