Adrian Bucurel Ilie (born April 20, 1974 in Craiova , Dolj district ) is a former Romanian football player . The striker played a total of 305 games in the Romanian League 1 , the Spanish Primera División , the Turkish Süper Lig and the Swiss Super League . As a national player, he took part in the 1996 European Championship , the 1998 World Championship and the 2000 European Championship . He is the brother of former Bundesliga player Sabin Ilie .
Club career
Ilie started his career at Electroputere Craiova in 1991 . In 1993 he moved to the Romanian top club Steaua Bucharest , where he was able to win the Romanian championship three times in a row. During the winter break of the 1996/97 season he moved to Turkey to the top club Galatasaray Istanbul . After two for him only moderate seasons, he moved to Spain with Valencia . For the 2002/03 season he moved to Deportivo Alavés for a year . In January 2004 he returned to Turkey, where he gave an interlude in Beşiktaş Istanbul . But things didn't go according to plan for him there, so that he left the club for FC Zurich after only half a season . In 2005 he ended his football career with a knee injury.
In 2009, Ilie made an attempt to return to professional football. He signed a contract with the Russian first division club Terek Grozny , but failed due to the medical examination.
National team
Ilie played 55 times for the Romanian national soccer team . He got 13 hits. He participated with the national team in the European Championships in 1996 and 2000 and in the 1998 World Cup.

After his active career, Ilie became an entrepreneur. He built a hotel and several villas in Poiana Brașov . Ilie also got involved with the former Romanian second division club Forex Brașov . He is married and has a daughter.
