Copa Eva Duarte
The Copa Eva Duarte was a Spanish soccer competition that was held annually from 1947 to 1953 between the Spanish champions and the Spanish cup winners . The Copa Eva Duarte is thus the predecessor of the Supercopa de España .
In 1940, the first competition game between the champions and the cup winners was held, the Copa de Campeones . The Copa de Campeones was played only this time and was not continued. In 1945 the competition was resumed at the suggestion of the Argentine ambassador, who also donated the Copa de Oro Argentina trophy ("Argentine Gold Cup"). After a break in 1946, the competition was held again in 1947. The competition Copa Eva Duarte de Perón was named in honor of the donor of the trophy, the wife of the then Argentine President . The cup competition was known under this name until the end of the 1952/53 season, although it has not been held for the last two years because FC Barcelona was both champions and cup winners. Due to the death of Eva Perón , the competition was then discontinued.
