The football team of Sápmi represents the people of the seed , which lives in the north of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The Lapland Football Association is neither a member of the world football association FIFA nor of the European football association UEFA . Therefore, the team does not take part in qualifying games for world championships and European championships .

Lapland's football team has played a number of unofficial games since 1985, including one against the GDR Olympic team in 1986 . The only games against official national teams Sápmi played against Estonia .

The Sápmi Football Association has been a member of CONIFA since 2013 . Sápmi won the Viva World Cup 2006 in games against the Occitan national soccer team and the Monegasque national soccer team .
