The Occitan football selection is the football selection of the Occitania area , which is located in the south of France . It is controlled by the Associacion Occitana de Fotbòl , founded in 1901 .

The Occitan football team is not a member of UEFA or FIFA . Therefore, she does not play in international competitive games. Opponents of friendly matches are teams like the Catalan football team or the Monaco national football team , which are also not part of UEFA. For example, she took part in the Viva World Cup 2006, which was organized by the NF Board , an association of non-FIFA members, in Occitania itself (in the city of Hyères ) in November 2006.

To date, the Occitan football team has played eight games: two in 1921 and four from 2005 to April 2006 as well as another two games in the VIVA World Cup 2006. The games from 1921 were played by the team at that time under the name Provence .

At the VIVA World Cup 2008 a team called Provence took part again, so the selection from Occitania has returned to its original name after more than 85 years.
