Romà Forns (* 1885/1886; † April 26, 1942 ) was a Spanish football player and coach.

Career

During his active time as a football player, he was a striker for FC Barcelona from 1904 to 1913 . Forns played alongside players like Francisco Bru , Paulino Alcántara and Jack Greenwell and won a total of five Catalan championships and one time the Spanish Cup with Barcelona.

In addition, Forns played at least four games for the Catalan football team between 1910 and 1912 . On December 12, 1912, he played in Catalonia's first game against a foreign team, in the 7-0 draw against France .

Before he became the first Spanish coach of FC Barcelona in 1927 , he was a member of the board of directors of FC Barcelona until December 1926. At Barcelona, Forns coached Josep Samitier and Ferenc Plattkó, among others . In 1928 he won the Spanish Cup and the Catalan Championship with Barcelona. In March 1929, the president of FC Barcelona, Arcadi Balaguer, had to resign. As a result, Forns also had to leave as a coach. He was effectively replaced by James Bellamy from the seventh of 18 match days - Barcelona were five points behind the first in eighth place - but remained the assistant coach of FC Barcelona. So he was able to help lead FC Barcelona to the first Spanish championship held in the 1929 season .
