James Francis "Jim" Bellamy (born September 11, 1881 in Bethnal Green , London , † June 1969 in Chadwell Heath , Greater London ) was an English football player and coach.

With FC Barcelona he won the first Spanish championship as a coach in 1929 .

Career

As a player he was for several Football League clubs frequently as winger active, including for Woolwich Arsenal (1903-1907), the Scottish FC Dundee (min. 1910) with which he in 1910 won the Scottish Cup, the FC Burnley (from 1912 to 1913) and for Fulham FC (1914).

After coaching Brescia Calcio as a coach, first in Germany and Italy , he joined FC Barcelona on March 26, 1929 . There, a new club management had just passed the acting coach Romà Forns . Bellamy effectively took over his position on Matchday 7. Barcelona were 8th in the field of ten teams, five points behind the first. Forns remained as an assistant coach. He led FC Barcelona in 1929 to win the first Spanish championship. He also won the Catalan championship in 1930 and 1931 . After the nationally disappointing 1930/31 season , in which Barça were eliminated in the round of 16 of the Spanish Cup and only fourth in the league, Bellamy was replaced by Jack Greenwell after the end of this season . During Bellamy's tenure, Barça's biggest league defeat also fell: on February 8, 1931, they lost 1:12 to Athletic Bilbao , champions 1930 and 1931, trained by Fred Pentland .
