Life

Nilsson started his career at Jonsereds IF, but moved to IFK Göteborg when he was 20 years old . There he became a very successful striker and several top clubs from all over Europe noticed the young Swede. In 1976 he moved to the Netherlands for PSV Eindhoven and also made his debut for the Swedish national team . The move abroad, however, was not as successful as he had hoped and a year later Nilsson moved back to Gothenburg. There he went back to his old form and won the Swedish Cup in 1979 and 1982, the Swedish Championship in 1982 and, to top it off, the UEFA Cup in 1982 . Because of these achievements he was named the best Swedish player of the year and received offers from other European clubs and in 1982 moved to the Bundesliga for 1. FC Kaiserslautern . What was strange about the change was that a few weeks earlier he had thrown Kaiserslautern out of the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup. After two years in Germany , he went back to his old club Gothenburg, with whom he was able to win the Swedish championship again in 1984.
