Antonis Antoniadis ( Greek Αντώνης Αντωνιάδης , born May 25, 1946 in Xanthi , Greece ) is a former Greek football player.

Career

Antoniadis, who went down in football history as one of the most successful strikers in Greece , began his career in the northern Greek city of Xanthi . The center forward, who was strong in shooting and header, played there until 1968, before he moved to Athens to Panathinaikos . At the time, the move was highly controversial among Panathinaikos fans. Few trust the Langen to to meet the high expectations of the club meet. However, this should already change in Antoniadi's first competitive game when he scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Aris Saloniki . In the following years Antoniadis was five times top scorer in the Greek league and thus led his team to four championships and two cup wins. The 1970–1971 season was outstanding for him, when he was able to score ten of his team's 14 goals himself at the European Cup , made it to the finals and was the top scorer of the competition. 1978 Antoniadis left Panathinaikos and moved to Olympiacos . After only one season of good performances but little time he moved to Atromitos Peristeri in 1979 before returning to Panathinaikos in 1981. With a total of 187 goals in 242 championship games, Antoniadis is fifth on Greece's all-time best list. With the Greek national team Antoniadis came in the period from 1970 to 1977 on 21 missions and scored six goals.

In 1976 Antonis Antoniadis became a member of the Greek players' association PSAP . Since 1980 he has been its president.
