Jürgen Piepenburg (born June 10, 1941 in Schöningsburg , Pyritz district in Pomerania ) is a former German soccer player in the Oberliga , the former top soccer class of the GDR soccer association . There he played for Vorwärts Berlin / Frankfurt (Oder) , with whom he was three times champion and one cup winner. He later worked as a coach in this sport.

Athletic career

BSG / ASG / Club stations

Jürgen Piepenburg, who was born in a town near Prillwitz in Western Pomerania during the Second World War , began his career as a football player with the tractor company sports club in the small town of Franzburg in Western Pomerania . In 1963 he came from the second-rate GDR league team ASG Vorwärts Cottbus to the central sports club of the National People's Army , the upper division ASK Vorwärts Berlin. In the 1965/66 season, the 1.77 meter tall regular left wing striker won his first men's title in the GDR championship. Contributed to this success with 22 of 26 possible point games and six goals. In the 1966/67 season he was next to Paul Van Himst with six goals the most successful goalscorer of the European Cup .

In 1969 he won his second championship title with FC Vorwärts Berlin, which has since been spun off from ASK, this time he had again completed 22 point games, but was the top scorer of his team with twelve goals. Piepenburg's third title was winning the GDR soccer cup in 1970. On June 13, he was with FC Vorwärts as the left winger in the final against 1. FC Lok Leipzig , which the Berliners won 4-2. In the summer of 1971 Piepenburg had to move with FC Vorwärts to Frankfurt (Oder) , where the army footballers will be known as FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / O. competed. Piepenburg was active there until 1975 and then ended his football career in the GDR league. For the army team, he had completed 236 league games in Berlin and Frankfurt and scored 79 goals. He scored eleven times in 22 European Cup games. He scored these eleven goals in the exclusively European Cup and was the record number in GDR football in this competition .

Selection bets

Before and after his move from Cottbus to East Berlin, his goal danger in the yellow and red player equipment of the forward teams brought him selection appointments. In the two games for the youngsters of the GDR in 1964 Piepenburg could not excel as a goalscorer.

Further career

Coaching career

After his career as a player, Jürgen Piepenburg, who had completed a sports teacher degree at the Leipzig Sport University DHfK, became a coach. Among other things, 1984 to 1988 at ASG Vorwärts Dessau and after the turnaround at VfB Fortuna Biesdorf. He celebrated his greatest success with SV Germania 90 Schöneiche , with which he won the Brandenburg State Cup in 2004 and was therefore allowed to compete with the club in the first round of the 2004/05 DFB Cup . After he was dismissed from Germania Schöneiche in May 2005, he again took over the coaching position at BFC Dynamo . But he had to give up this position after just three match days in the 2005/06 league season after the 8-0 debacle at league rivals 1. FC Union Berlin.

Sports manager

After his work as a coach, he was first sporting director at Berliner SV from the 2010/11 season and then from 2014 managing director of Stern 1900 .
