The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1971 was the 47th season of the top Swedish football league . The Swedish championship was played between April 12 and October 24, 1971.

Last year's champions Malmö FF successfully defended their title and won the Von Rosens Cup for the ninth time in the club's history . League newcomer IFK Luleå missed relegation and had to relegate immediately. In Division 2 , the club was accompanied by the four-time Swedish champions IF Elfsborg .
