The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1957/58 was the 34th season of the highest Swedish football league . Because of the 1958 World Cup in their own country and the changeover of game operations to the calendar year, the season was extended. Three rounds were played; in autumn, in spring and again in autumn. Thus, each team played three times against the respective competition.

The autumn round was held from August 2nd to November 10th, the spring round from April 13th to May 31st, 1958 and then again an autumn round from August 3rd to October 19th, 1958.

After 33 match days, IFK Göteborg was national champion for the sixth time in the club's history. Since the European Cup season began at the end of August, the leader of the spring round was registered for this competition.

The two newly promoted IFK Eskilstuna and Motala AIF had to move into the second class division 2 .
