Career
Källgren played for IFK Norrköping in Allsvenskan between 1951 and 1959 . At the side of players like Bengt Gustavsson , Gösta Nordahl and Torsten Lindberg , he won the Von Rosens Cup for the Swedish national champions in the 1951/52 season . As a regular goalscorer, he was one of the guarantors who established the club in the top division in the following years. He was then appointed to the national team for the first time in the fall of 1953. In the 2-2 draw against the Hungarian national team on November 15 of that year in Budapest, the last international match for the Golden Elves before their historic 6-3 triumph against England ten days later, he crowned his debut with his first international goal. Nevertheless, he could not get stuck in the selection.
With the team around Bengt Nyholm , Sven Axbom and Åke Johansson , Källgren won his second championship in the season 1955/56 . With the newly signed Harry Bild he formed the dangerous central striker duo in the following year, which led the club to repeat the previous year's triumph with 19 and 18 goals respectively this season. In the season 1957/58 he crowned himself with 27 goals this season together with Bertil Johansson top scorer of the Allsvenskan. Consequently, he was part of the squad at the World Cup finals tournament in his own country. As a substitute for the current and former international professionals around Agne Simonsson , Kurt Hamrin , Nils Liedholm and Gunnar Gren , he mainly sat on the bench. In the 0-0 draw at the end of the preliminary round against Wales , he played his only final game.
With 126 first division goals Källgren is the best goalscorer in the club's history. For the national team, he played eight international matches between 1953 and 1958, in which he was able to achieve a total of eight goals.
