Lars "Lasse" Larsson (born March 16, 1962 in Trelleborg , † March 8, 2015 ) was a Swedish football player . The striker , who played nine games for the Swedish national team between 1984 and 1987 , later worked as a coach and at times also worked as a football official .

Career

Larsson started playing football at IFK Trelleborg . For the first division season in 1982 he joined Malmö FF in the Allsvenskan . As runner-up in the table, he reached the championship finals with the team, but failed there in the semifinals at Östers IF . The following year he shone as a regular goalscorer and led the top scorer list of the Swedish elite series with nine goals this summer before he decided to move to Italy to Atalanta Bergamo . In addition, he had played his marksmanship in the Swedish national team and made his debut on June 6, 1984 in the 0-1 defeat against Denmark in the national jersey. In his last game in Sweden against Örgryte IS , he tore a ligament in his knee.

Larsson fell out for the first half of the season in Italy and then could not prevail in the Atalanta team. Therefore, he returned to Sweden after a season and rejoined Malmö FF. Under coach Roy Hodgson he dominated the Swedish league with the team and consistently took first place alongside Martin Dahlin , Jonas Thern , Stefan Schwarz and Roger Ljung , only in 1986 and 1988 the team also triumphed in the finals. In the 1987 season he contributed with 19 goals to first place and thus crowned himself in front of his teammates Mats Magnusson and Thomas Lundin from Hammarby IF as the top scorer in the Swedish first division. In 1992, Larsson left Malmö FF for his hometown and hired at Trelleborgs FF , where he ended his career in 1993.

For the 1994 season Larsson moved to the coaching bench and looked after the lower class club Tomelilla IF for two seasons . In 1996 he returned to Malmö FF as an assistant coach and worked under Rolf Zetterlund and his successor Frans Thijssen . In 1999 he went back to Trelleborgs FF to work as a youth coach at the club. In 2002 he also became assistant coach and later head of sports. In autumn 2014 he took over the office of youth coach at his first club IFK Trelleborg . He died after a brief illness on March 8, 2015, leaving behind a wife and two daughters.
