Mats Olof Aronsson (born August 16, 1951 ) is a former Swedish football player . The former striker is now working as a football official.

Career

As a soccer player

Aronsson started playing football at Vankiva IF . He came to Landskrona BoIS in Allsvenskan via Hässleholms IF before the start of the first division season in 1977 . There the striker knew how to convince and won the title of top scorer with 15 goals this season together with Reine Almqvist from newly promoted IFK Göteborg . In the following years he fought with the team against relegation to the second division . At the end of the 1980 season he missed relegation with the team and therefore left the club at the end of the season. He moved to league rivals Djurgårdens IF , with whom he also missed relegation in his first season as bottom of the table. It was only in the relegation against AIK that the direct return to the Allsvenskan failed. After another season in Stockholm, he let his active career end with the lower class clubs Höganäs BK and Boo FF .

Aronsson initially worked full-time as a teacher and later as a sales manager in the insurance industry.

As a functionary

After the end of his active career, Aronson was involved in the board of some of his former clubs. First he worked at Boo FF and its successor club Nacka FF before he went to Djurgårdens IF. He later moved to the Stockholms Fotbollförbund , of which he became chairman. As a delegate of the regional association, he also sat on the board of Svenska Fotbollförbundet .

In December 2006 his former club Landskrona BoIS announced the engagement of Aronssons as head of sport from January 2007.
