Career

Nyström began his Allsvenskan career at IK Brage in the late 1930s . There he drew the attention of those responsible at Svenska Fotbollförbundet to himself and was appointed to the Swedish national team by the association's selection committee in the summer of 1939 . His debut on the occasion of the 7-0 success on June 11 of that year against the Lithuanian national team he crowned with the goal to 6-0 intermediate result. He also proved his scoring risk on a club basis and scored 17 goals this season in the 1940/41 season. Nevertheless, he missed relegation with his team and had to relegate to Division 2 as penultimate. As a striker, he led the team in Division 2 Norra to the relay victory , but failed in the promotion round with the club at IFK Eskilstuna .

Nyström moved to Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan. After he was temporarily no longer included in the national team, he returned to the national team in the summer of 1946 and entered the scorers list in the 7-2 victory over Switzerland . He was also part of the team in the following years and was included in the roster for the 1948 Summer Olympics . While the team around players like Gunnar Gren , Torsten Lindberg , Gunnar Nordahl , Henry Carlsson and Nils Liedholm won the gold medal, he remained without a tournament appearance.

Between 1939 and his last game in 1947, Nyström played in a total of eleven international matches, scoring five goals. He was awarded a Stor Grabb .
