Rune Börjesson

Rune Börjesson (born April 24, 1937 , † February 8, 1996 ) was a Swedish national football player . The striker , who was used several times for the Swedish national team , played temporarily in Italy.

Career

Börjesson started his career at Örgryte IS . With the Gothenburg club, he first played in the second-rate division 2 . At the side of the vice-world champions Agne Simonsson and Gunnar Gren in the storm, he was able to celebrate the relay victory of Division 2 Västra Götaland with the club and then with two victories over Landskrona BoIS in the promotion round the promotion to the Allsvenskan . As a young talent, he made his debut as a second division player on September 14, 1958 in a 2-0 win against the Norwegian national team in the national team.

In the first division Börjesson proved his scoring risk. In his debut season in the Swedish House of Lords, he was top scorer with 21 goals this season. In addition, in October 1959 he was part of the Swedish team that defeated the English national team on English soil as the second national team after the Hungarian national team in 1953 . In the 1960 season he was able to defend his title as top scorer and in 1961 moved to Juventus Turin as a professional footballer on the recommendation of Grens . From there, however, he was loaned to US Palermo after a short time . When he moved to Italy, his national team career ended after 20 games in which he scored twelve goals.

In 1964 he returned to Örgryte IS and played for the club for several years in the Allsvenskan.
