Career

Johannson started playing soccer at Sävedalens IF . In 1954 he moved to IFK Göteborg . In the following years he formed the club's powerful storm in the Allsvenskan with Bengt Berndtsson and Owe Ohlsson . In the season 1957/58 he was able to get the top scorer title of the Swedish elite series with 27 goals this season together with Henry Källgren from IFK Norrköping . So he made a decisive contribution to winning the championship in the same year. Until 1968 he still ran for the club and with 162 first division goals scored, he is one of the top five goalscorers in the history of Allsvenskan.

On October 26, 1958, Johannson made his debut in the 4-4 draw against the Danish national team in the Swedish national team . Despite his success in the league, he came to only four internationals in 1963, in which he was denied a goal.

After the end of his playing career, Johannson moved to the coaching bench of his home club. Here, too, he stayed on the road to success and was able to celebrate the double of the championship and the Swedish Cup in 1969 . In 1970 he gave up his post.
