Szepanski started playing football in 1950 and played at Ifö / Bromölla IF in his youth . In the mid-1960s, he moved up to the club's men's team, which competed in the second-rate Division 1 .

There Szepanski was discovered by those in charge of Malmö FF and in 1967 he moved to the Skåne club . In his very first season he was the top scorer of the Allsvenskan with 22 goals and thus led the club to the championship. In the same year the victory was achieved in the first new edition of the Svenska Cup . After two runner-up championships with the club, he left the club after the 1969 season .

The new club of Szepanski was the league rival AIK . The big success did not come, only in 1972 the runner-up behind Åtvidabergs FF . As a result, however, he came on October 15, 1972 as part of qualifying for the 1974 World Cup for his only use in the national jersey. In the 7-0 win over Malta , he scored the goal in the 57th minute to make it 6-0. With the supporters of the club from Solna, he made himself popular with a strong performance in the derby against Djurgårdens IF in the 1973 season . In addition to his participation in the goal for the 1-0 intermediate and the 4-0 final score, he managed a remarkable goal to make it 3-0.

At the beginning of 1974, Szepanski switched to Jönköpings Södra IF for professional reasons . The club was relegated to the third highest division, Division 3 . With Szepanski in the storm, the immediate resurgence succeeded. From 1976 he let his career with IF Väster in Gothenburg end for two seasons .

During and after the end of his sporting career, Szepanski worked as marketing director and managing director at Tetrapak in Sweden. In 2003 he retired in Spain, where he wrote temporarily for the Swedish-language newspaper Costa Blanca-magasinet .

Worth mentioning
