In the 1930s, the sporting success increasingly began. In 1933 Jönköpings Södra IF was able to qualify for Division 3 (then 3rd division).

In 1945 the club then won Division 2, with which Jönköpings Södra was able to play in the Allsvenskan for the first time in the 1945/1946 season , but was also relegated immediately. In 1947 they were promoted again and in 1950 the club even finished second in the Allsvenskan at the end of the season. After four more seasons in the Allsvenskan, the club rose in 1954 to Division 2 , where they played until they were promoted again in 1959.

In the 1960s, Jönköpings Södra IF commuted between Allsvenskan (1960, 1969), Division 2 (1961-63, 65-68) and Division 3 (1964). The season in the Allsvenskan in 1969 was to remain the last in this division until 2015. However, the club rose again in 2017.

In the 1970s, the club played mainly in Division 2 (2nd division), with the exception of the 1974 season (Division 3). Until 1981 one held this division, but then had to play for longer periods in the third division (1982-84 (Division 3), 1986-89 (new Division 2 )).

In the 1990s, the club continued to decline. So you played, after relegation in 1989, in the years 1990 to 1992 in Division 3 (now 4th league) before you then relegated to Division 4. There you spent the years 1993–94 and 1996–1998 (1995: Division 3). In 1999 they were back in Division 3 and immediately rose to Division 2 , where Jönköpings Södra IF played until 2005, when they could qualify for the second division ( Superettan ). From the 2006 season Jönköpings Södra IF played so in the second highest division. In 2015 he was promoted to the Allsvenskan. In the 2016 season, the club will play first class again.

From 2012 to 2014 the team was coached by Mats Gren . In 2014 Jimmy Thelin took over the coaching position.
