Dalkurd FF is a Swedish football club from Uppsala . The Kurdish immigrant club, founded in Borlänge in 2004, played for the first time in 2018 in the Allsvenskan , the highest Swedish football league.

history

Dalkurd FF was founded in 2004 as a social project for young people, which soon more experienced players joined. The following year, the club took part in the eight-class Division 6 for the first time in the game. The team started to march through the individual divisions and reached the fourth division Division 2 Norra Svealand in the 2009 season . Here, too, she only had to record one loss for the season and, as the season winner, made her fourth ascent in a row. The club then established itself at the third highest level in Sweden. At the end of the third division season in 2013 he reached the relegation games to Superettan as runner-up, but missed promotion to the second division after a 1-0 first leg win against IFK Värnamo due to a 5-1 defeat in the second leg.

Two years later, the team won their season with a 13 point lead over runner-up Akropolis IF and missed the relegation place to Allsvenskan in the second division season of 2016 with one point behind Halmstads BK . In the following season, the team finished second behind promoted IF Brommapojkarna and rose for the first time in the club's history in the top division of the Swedish association. In the 2018 season they finished penultimate place with 24 points and had to return to the second division after one season.

In autumn 2017 it was decided by unanimous membership decision that the association would move to Uppsala from January 2018. Because of the new construction or renovation of the stadium there, they played for one year in Gavlevallen in Gävle before they could compete in the newly opened Studenternas IP from 2020 .

Remarkable

Away from the football field, Dalkurd FF attracted attention due to its political commitment. For example, the candidate Evin Cetin was supported for the 2009 European elections .

On March 24, 2015, the football club escaped a major disaster at the last minute. The crew had tickets for the Germanwings flight 9525 from Barcelona to Düsseldorf, on which the plane crashed in the French Alps without any survivors. Shortly before take-off, however, she decided to take other flights because she would have had to wait too long at the stopover in Germany.
